Dr. Irene Neri-Arboleda, Associate DVM & Practice Manager

Dr. Irene is a highly skilled, well-rounded and fully licensed veterinary professional with a wealth of knowledge and experience. She trained with the VSTEP Program at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. Dr Irene challenged her boards and completed her Clinical Proficiency Exams under the AVMA’s (American Veterinary Medical Association) ECFVG Program (Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates) as part of her earning her North American Veterinary license.

In addition to her work as a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Irene is also a respected researcher and academic. She holds a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology of exotic species from Adelaide University in South Australia and has been awarded research grants from the National Geographic Society Committee of Research and Exploration on two separate occasions. She maintains her links with her co-researchers, continues to write for international peer-reviewed scientific journals and reviews project funding proposals. An advocate for modern, cutting-edge, state-of-the-art technology, she loves learning new veterinary medical trends. She is also an active member of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology (CAVD) and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

As a practitioner, Dr. Irene is passionate about providing exceptional care for exotic pets, such as rabbits, chinchillas, birds, iguanas, and more. She completed a Clinical Medicine and Surgery externship in Avian and Exotics at the New York Animal Medical Center under Dr. Katherine Quesenberry, and is constantly seeking to expand her knowledge and expertise in this area. She enjoys working with clients and has a particular interest in Internal Medicine and Surgery, and takes great pleasure in mentoring student volunteers in her clinic.

When she’s not working, Dr. Irene loves to travel, cook, read, watch movies, and attend Zumba classes. She is a proud mother to two sons, Nic and Marc, as well as two furry friends, Marshall the cat and Munch the bunny.
